On the 8th of November, 2019, there was an announcement that Tom Cantone has been named the new president of sports and entertainment at MGE (Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment). Tom Cantone was promoted from his previous position as senior vice-president and is set to become the company’s new president.
Cantone has carved a niche for himself in the industry in such a small space of time. According to several experts in the industry, they give credit to him for revolutionizing the casino entertainment. He helped build MGE’s CT Mohegan Sun Casino and turned it into a renowned and profitable casino among several others. The casino is also ranked as one of the best on social media.
While he served as vice-president of the company, the casino won a number of national awards and outperformed all their competitors.
Without a doubt, he displayed his prowess and proved that he’s the man to lead the company to greater fortunes.
On the 7th of November, Cantone resumed his new position. As reported by Calvin Ayre, his new position was announced during a news conference. The new president had this to say,
“My new title will position us as we grow the MGE Brand globally, especially into Asia and Europe. Exporting what we do so well in CT and our properties throughout the country will be our goal to bring that success to the world stage. I’m blessed with a very talented team and a world-class organization that has created a culture of leadership in our industry. That alone will ensure a bright future for generations to come.”
Mario Kontomerkos, the CEO at MGE was happy for Cantone and that he was promoted to the new position. He said
“Tom is the epitome of leadership and has played an incalculable role in shaping the rise of our brand into an industry powerhouse.”
As he’s resumed work as the new president, Tom Cantone will keep leading entertainment offerings across all the properties in the United States. He will also supervise the organization’s international properties. This includes the new facility that would be unveiled in South Korea, Inspire Korea. This property is set to open in June 2022.
Tom Cantone was also added to the company’s Now’s 2019 All-Stars list. This issue is its inaugural issue, and the publication acknowledged him as one of the top 50 executives in some specific parts of the entertainment industry.
The president will continue staying in the corporate offices situated in Uncasville, Connecticut. So far, we haven’t heard anything about a replacement for his former position. It is believed that his replacement will be announced anytime from now.
MGE is one of the biggest producers of live entertainment in the resort and casino industry. They are currently ranked on Billboard’s 2019 Arena Power List.
