Although, it’s being a while, it’s better late than never for MGE (Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment) as they are just getting things started at Inspire, their South Korea Integrated Resort (IR). From the look of things, it seems that things are about to change for the better.
There’s now detailed information regarding the dates the Incheon IR will launch, and when the structure will be completed. These details also includes the facilities that it would come fitted with.
According to the Korea Times, there are reports that the resort from MGE, is going to be the biggest resort in the entire country the moment it’s completed. The mega project will launch the first phase in the third quarter of 2022. While the fourth and last phase is slated to be completed by 2031.
According to a statement from the CEO of MGE, Mario Kontomerkos, he had some things to say during a press conference for some journalists from Korea at the Mohegan Sun, situated in Connecticut.
“All of the major permits that are necessary to break ground, we received in May and we are under construction as we speak and we are looking forward to opening in early part of 2022,”
Some of the facilities that would come with the resort in the first phase are a top of the line five-star hotel. This hotel will come with 1,256 rooms, an enormous 15,000-seat arena, a foreigner-only casino, and convention halls. This phase is estimated to gulp about $1.29 billion.
The gambling laws of South Korea forbids its citizens from entering almost all casinos in the country. The only Casino they are allowed to enter is the Kangwon Land, which is run by the federal government and is located in the Gangwon province. Because of this, Kontomerkos has placed an importance on the amenities that would come with the resort:
“Inspire will be unlike any other integrated resort in Asia and the reason for that in addition to the typical amenities that you will see in an integrated resort, we are also going to integrate seamlessly into this resort a 15,000-seat arena that will bring Western concert entertainment as well as Korean and other Asian concert entertainment.
We will be bringing Digital Street, which will be a great showcase for local Korean food, retail and technological talent and finally we will have a theme park that will be unlike any other in Asia.”
However, the second phase of the resort will attract quite a number of tourists. It will include facilities like an amusement park with a theme of Paramount Pictures. The rides would be based on fan-favorite movies like Mission Impossible, Star Trek, and Tomb Raider. It is scheduled to launch its services in 2025.
Its good news for a number of people who can’t wait for the resort to open its doors to the public. Now they have a definite time frame to work with, in anticipation of the mega-resort. This came at the back of fears that tourism in China is about to decline, but it seems those fears have been put to rest.
