Sigma 2019 is here. Starting from 27th to 29th November, the event that brings the whole iGaming fraternity together will take place at the Malta Fairs and Conventions Centre, Ta’Qali. The event started in 2014 and has taken root since then.
As the Malta iGaming Summit approaches, expect to hear all sorts of iGaming insights. The three-day event will come with a number of innovations with it. Last year, the event had attracted more than 400 sponsors and exhibitors, 200 prominent industry speakers and 12,500 attendees making it a grand event. 2019’s event is expected to be much bigger.
Apart from the iGaming news, we are expecting insights on affiliate marketing as well. Since a lot has changed in the sector, here are some affiliate marketing trends you should probably be on the lookout for:
Regulation
This is an aspect that cannot be left out at all costs because well…they are rules. US states are on a romp setting betting regulations all over the industry. Buenos Aires province in Argentina too is passing bills related to affiliates and could be further discussed in the event.
Apart from these, there is the Kenya Tax tribunal. It is not yet known if the authorities’ appeal will be successful to allow the return of Betin and SportPesa. Also in the mix is the voluntary gambling ad code by Spanish operators as well as the Dutch market opening delay which are all up for discussion in the event.
SiGMA 2019 will, therefore, be hot with regulatory topics from all over the globe.
Responsible gambling
This is a set of social responsibilities that are required of key players to ensure player safety. 2019’s Responsible Gambling Week sheds light on the demand for responsible gambling. While it is expected of operators, affiliates are required to observe player safety as well.
UK’s GB Gambling Commission, for instance, has already issued an industry-wide warning that operators should take full responsibility of their affiliates’ activities. Initiatives launched in this regard is such as the Better Collective which invested in Midway AI’s problem detection tool.
Since responsible gambling is growing in popularity, it will probably get a mention in the SiGMA event. This topic will further be discussed especially considering the fact that cross-industry collaboration is expected to happen.
Smarter marketing
With digital marketing trends changing on a daily basis to up their marketing game, marketers in the gambling field are also following suit. Social media platforms are ever adding new features, changing their algorithm or trying new ways. Instagram, for instance, is testing out removal of likes from its platform while Facebook is trying out its Popular Photos feature.
The rising cost of in-app advertising has forced marketers to rethink their spending strategies. According to AffiliateInsider.com, some marketers are exploring high-volume marketers that are not already saturated. In the ever-growing online market platform, standing out from the ever-growing competitors is an important aspect.
For those attending the event, more insights are underway.
