Last Friday, DraftKings entered into partnership with the National Council on Problem Gaming (NCPG) to ensure bettors are responsible for their gaming activities. In a statement, Draftkings revealed that they want to help NCPG efforts, which include safe betting and internet betting standards. The guidelines will also help sportsbooks to use the best practices in their gaming activities.
NCPG is a non-profit group based in Washington, DC. Its other members include Caesars Entertainment, Las Vegas Sands Corp., MGM Resorts International, and The Stars Group. The group CEO Keith Whyte reported that DraftKings partnership with NCPG would mark a new level of awareness in problem gambling. According to casino.org, NCPG believes that about 2 million Americans are addicted to gambling; another 6 million people are estimated to have a gambling problem since they experience negative issues related to gaming.
In a press release, DraftKings chief compliance officer said that the company wants its customers to enjoy their products responsibly.
“We are to partner with leading responsible gaming organizations like the NCPG to ensure independent experts inform our internal efforts”.
Before DraftKings partnered with NCPG, the council had announced that it would be providing insight in ways to combat problem gambling. NCPG is not only confined to sports betting; a number of states have passed legislation allowing it to include casinos.
