The state of Montana has begun processing betting license applications. Last May, the state’s legislation legalized betting, and the Montana Lottery was given the task of monitoring and running sports betting in Montana.

The body in charge of gambling has already carried out public consultations to seek public opinions and views about the operation of gambling activities in the state. Following this consultation, new regulations were published and posted in the stated Administrative register.

The process of licensing is the first step in launching betting in Montana. Any operator seeking a license in the state will be required to meet specific criteria as stipulated by the gambling regulatory authority.

Locations that meet these requirements may make an application by visiting Montana’s eStop licensing portal. Once each site is shortlisted, operators in those areas will be trained and have sports betting equipment installed for them.

Once licensing is complete, the state will become part of 13 states in the U.S that have sports betting running following the legalization of gambling by the Supreme Court.
