The World Series of Poker (WSOP) organizers are making preparations for the 1st July 2020 Main Event by promoting the event cards for $10,000, among other activities. The 2020 WSOP series will open on 26th May at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas just behind Caesars Palace. The event is expected to run for 51 days up to 15th July. WSOP Executive Director Ty Stewart said that he is looking forward to welcoming players from all parts of the globe to the event.
WSOP organizers confirmed that the $500 Big 50 will start on 27th May and that the $1,000 Seniors No-Limit Holding them Championship will kick off on 18th June. The event hasn’t been approved, but the event is expected to take place in the first quarter of 2020.
There is some discontent among poker players concerning the venue of the event. They fear that Caesars might relocate the tournament since the off-strip resort has already been sold. However, according to Casino.org, Caesar VP of Communication Seth Palansky has confirmed that the WSOP is staying, since the operator is leasing Rio for the next two years.
In the 2019 WSOP, several complaints were made regarding Rio’s need for renovation and also a case of robbery in the resort. However, Caesar is luring players to the 2020 WSOP Event by offering a discount on hotel rooms.
