The state-owned Holland Casino ratified its chief executive Erwin van Lambaart for a new four-year term. The new management period, which will begin in March 2020, was authorized by the Netherlands Ministry of Finance on the recommendation of the company’s supervisory board.

Since 2016 Van Lambaart has taken the reins of the company. The chairman of the Holland Casino supervisory board, Willem Bröcker, had words of praise for the headline for his leadership in “turbulent times.”

Holland Casino’s privatization proposal was suspended by Justice Minister Sander Dekker in May due to the political opposition that the plan had within the Senate.

They planned to sell 10 of the 14 casinos owned by the state monopoly, while retaining the Holland Casino brand. Then the remaining four casinos would be sold separately and two other new licenses would be granted for new facilities.

Bröcker commented that “with the re-election of Erwin van Lambaart, we ensure the continuity of Holland Casino’s successful strategy.” He said that Van Lambaart “in recent years, has led the company in turbulent times in a powerful way and has ensured stability within the company”.

Stressed that “he has successfully joined the interests of his team and the social role of Holland Casino through the strategy ‘HC2020’, which has been decisively implemented,” adding that “his knowledge and ideas will be of great importance for the company in the next period.”

In April Van Lambaart announced that the company’s preparations for the opening of the online market in the Netherlands were “on time”. It is expected that the first licenses will be granted by mid-2020.

Upon being re-elected to the front of Holland Casino, Van Lambaart said:

“I hope to continue this great task as chairman of the board to make Holland Casino more prepared for the future and face the difficult challenges ahead.”

He said the “successful strategy will continue in the coming years, including the launch of the online gambling market, the opening of new locations in Venlo and Utrecht, and various innovations and product improvements for our customers.”

Lambaart served in other sectors such as entertainment, media and hospitality before being recruited by Holland Casino in 2016.
