The college football championship is ongoing with the final game set to be the toughest of all. LSU and Clemson are set to battle it out in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans on 13th January 2020. The game was announced a few moments after Clemson defeated Ohio State in a tough match that ended in 29-23.
As hinted by one sports and gaming writer in Casino.org, the oddsmakers are already placing their bets on who is better between the two, but really, is this being realistic? The oddsmakers have chosen LSU as their favorite over Clemson.
In fact, a few minutes past midnight ET Sunday, DraftKings made LSU as their favorite with 3.5 points. Not even half an hour later, the points shot up to 6.5 points before dropping again to 5.5 points less than half an hour later. This incident alone made more folks think they have lost big time while others wished that the trend continued.
FanDuel also placed LSU as its favorite at 3 points, which increased to 4.5 points a few moments later. This was the same line of movement for Caesars. On Saturday, LSU severely beat Oklahoma in the Peach Bowl in a game that ended in 63-28.
This prompted CircaSports to start taking bets, having placed LSU as a favorite with 3 points. In the night the points increased to 4.5 and by Sunday morning LSU was at 5 points. Westgate Superman also had LSU as its favorite with 4.5 points.
The January 13 game is expected to be tough as it will feature the state’s top offense, LSU with 554.3 yards per game, against the state’s strongest defense, Clemson with 244.7 yards per game. LSU is considered the top-scoring team in the state with Clemson having fewer points.
After the win against Oklahoma, LSU coach, Ed Orgeron said the team is ready to play its best as it is going to be playing against a National team. The games LSU has played during the season, place it at an advantage over Clemson. It has faced four of the top 20 defenses in the country. Clemson, on the other hand, has not had a tough season as LSU has. However, it proved its toughness in the game against Ohio State.
Despite Clemson’s tough defense, LSU offense is expected to shine in the New Orleans game. The oddsmakers have placed the over/under at a high number. FanDuel has set the over/under at a total of 68.5 points while the DraftKings have set it at 69. The SuperBook has placed it at 70.5 points while Circa has set it at 72.
From a money point of view, FanDuel gives LSU at -220 while the DraftKings give them -200. Circa has given LSU the lowest odds at -170. For Clemson, the Moneyline odds are +175 at FanDuel, +150 at Circa and +163 at DraftKings.
With approximately two weeks to the game, it is expected the odds will remain.
