Throughout October, Gun Lake Casino in Michigan is honoring Breast Cancer Awareness Month with a series of events to raise funds for the American Cancer Society’s “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer” campaign. Situated halfway between Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo at the US – 131’s Bradley exit, Gun Lake Casino is actively engaging both its team members and guests in this cause that directly impacts many in their community.
Jose Flores, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Gun Lake Casino, emphasized the significance of these efforts. He encouraged everyone to contribute through donation, education, and volunteerism, acknowledging the toll breast cancer has taken on team members and the wider community.
Throughout October, Gun Lake Casino is providing multiple channels for donations to the American Cancer Society’s broader mission to prevent, detect, treat, and conquer cancer. Every Monday, guests have the opportunity to make a donation and receive a matching amount, up to $20, in free slot play.
In addition to monetary donations, Breast Cancer Awareness t-shirts can be purchased at the Appliques Gift Shop, with 100% of proceeds earmarked for the American Cancer Society. Furthermore, food and beverage specialty items like pink lemonade, Bahama Mama cocktails, and pink cupcakes are being served at various points in the casino, with all proceeds benefitting the cause.
Every Monday, representatives from the American Cancer Society will be inside the casino to distribute educational materials and engage with guests about the realities of this disease. As part of its engagement efforts, Gun Lake Casino will sponsor the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk, to be held at Calder Plaza in downtown Grand Rapids on October 21, 2023.
Gun Lake Casino’s commitment to the fight against breast cancer has been demonstrated through its successful past fundraising events. Last year, during the month of October alone, they managed to raise over $23,000 for the American Cancer Society.
