Hialeah Park Race Track – Florida, United States

In 2004, the historic Hialeah Park Racetrack in Hialeah, Florida, was closed after two-years of laying dormant. The track had been home to the Flamingo Stakes, a top Kentucky Derby prep race, for almost 80 years prior to its closing. In 2009, the track was brought back to life by owner John J. Brunetti who had a new vision for this picturesque property. After four years of providing first-class quarter horse racing, Brunetti’s vision went into phase II with the addition of a beautiful casino and entertainment facility. Current plans call for the future development of a Racing History Museum, hotel & spa and an urban shopping development for the benefit of the citizens of Dade County, Florida and Hialeah Park Casino patrons.

Dining and Drinks
Spread throughout this massive facility are a number of great restaurants and cafes, offering a wide variety of foods from all over the world. The Havana Cafe offers a nice selection of Cuban cuisine plus an assortment of sandwiches, pasta, salads and desserts. At the La Veranda Bar & Cafe, the dining experience becomes a little more glamorous with steaks, appetizers and a list of special cocktails to spruce up the meal. Race goers can stop for a bite at the Turf Club where the fare is designed to appeal directly to horse players. For a more casual dining experience, patrons can choose from places such as the Flamingo Lounge Bar & Cafe or the La Fiesta concession stand where burgers, hot dogs, pizza, pretzels, fries and soft drinks rule the day.

Live Entertainment
Much in line with Hialeah’s history for catering to a growing population of Cuban immigrants, Hialeah Park Race Track is proud to present a variety of Latin artist from the past and the present. Frequent performers at the Havana Cafe include Willy Chirino, Jose Feliciano, Roberto Torres, Carlos Oliva y los Sobrinos del Juez and Los 3 de la Habana. For information regarding special concert events, patrons can check in with the Casino’s concierge for additional information.

Quarter Horse Racing
Hialeah Park Race Track always represented the best in thoroughbred racing. The track became famous for its flamingos in the infield lake, thousands of beautiful palm trees and a who’s who list of patrons. Today, the flamingos are gone, but the palm trees still stand proud and the American quarter horse that was was built for speed provides all the thrills associated with horse racing action. Traveling at speeds of close to 40 MPH, quarter house racing provides pure excitement with races ranging from 300 yards to 870 yards. The racing action is seasonal with opening day scheduled for the day after Christmas, concluding around the beginning of March each year. An impressive annual stakes schedule includes the $200,000 Hialeah Derby, the $100,000 South Florida Quarter Horse Derby and the meet-ending $100,000 Sam Abbey Memorial Invitational Championship, which typically features some of the best older quarter horse sprinters in the country. During the off-season, the racing facility remains open on a daily basis, offering a complete simulcast wagering menu from race tracks located all over the world.
