Kah-Nee-Ta High Desert Resort and Casino – Oregon, United States
The Kah-Nee-Ta High Desert Resort and Casino is located in Warm Springs, Oregon on the Warm Springs Reservation. It is owned and operated by three Indian tribes, the Warm Springs, Piaute and Wasco tribes. It is situated on the backdrop of the Warm Springs River with the mountains of Central Oregon In addition, as part of the casino, it boasts a museum to commemorate the history and tradition of the tribes. The Kah-Nee-Ta High Desert Resort and Casino has amenities that include a casino, dining and lodging, spa, golf, meeting facility and an RV Park.
There are a bevy of activities for the entire family to experience during their stay from horseback riding to water parks and more. Miniature golf and picnic day at the park are other family friendly activities provided. For those who are more adventurous, kayaking, hiking and river bend guided tours are available. The casino has slots and a table game in over twenty thousand square feet of space. There are five hundred state of the art video and reel slots as well as machines for video poker. The denomination ranges from one dollar to penny machines. The lone table game is Black Jack.
The slots have weekly tournaments on Wednesdays and Thursdays. The tournament on Wednesdays starts at two pm and has a five dollar buy-in. The Thursday tournament starts at seven pm with a ten dollar buy-in. In addition the first and third Thursday has a Best Ball designation and the second and fourth have an Individual Play moniker. Some of the slot games include the reel Gold Class, the video games Wheel of Fortune, Wild Wolf and The Wizard of Oz.
Black Jack is the only table game at Kah-Nee-Ta High Desert Resort and Casino. There are eight dedicated tables for players to place bets. The casino has a link to a website to assist gamblers with how the game is played.
Lodging and Dining
The lodging accommodation at the Kah-Nee-Ta High Desert Resort and Casino consist of one hundred sixty nine luxurious guest rooms. Each room has its own private balcony. The rooms range from a level classification called Lodge rooms starting with the Chief King Suite, which has a separate bedroom from the expansive living room area. There are two bathrooms with a Jacuzzi in the main one. A breakfast bar with utensils and a refrigerator is included. A triple balcony with spectacular views, bathrobes, DVD player and two flat screen televisions are more of the decadent amenities included. The next level of rooms is known as Village Rooms with two queen beds and some have kitchenettes. There are no pets allowed in the suites, while they can accompany owners in the Village Rooms. The hotel has a no smoking policy for all rooms.
Teepee rentals are available for the guest who wants to indulge in the Culture of the Native America. There are twenty near the shower and pool facilities. The amenities include pits with open fires, general camping supplies, sleeping bags and more. Although, each teepee can sleep up to ten people, guests are billed for a minimum of three.
Dining at Kah-Nee-Ta High Desert Resort and Casino consists of six restaurants. The restaurants include the Chinook Northwest Grille, Warm Springs Grill, Village Café, Golf Snack Shack, Cottonwood and the Tule Grill. The Chinook Northwest Grille, Village Café and Golf Snack Shack are seasonal. The Warm Springs Grill offers American fare with breakfast, lunch and dinner. There are large screen televisions for the sports enthusiast. The hours of operation are seven days per week from seven am to seven pm except on Friday and Saturdays, closing time is ten pm.
The Cottonwood provides a casual experience for breakfast, lunch and dinner. American fare is on the menu with the prices for specials ranging from under five dollars for breakfast to thirteen dollars for Deschutes Battered Halibut Fish and Chips. However, the most expensive entrée on the menu is a sixteen ounce Prime Rib for twenty two dollars. There is the traditional favorite of salmon with fresh fried Indian bread. On Fridays there is a Seafood buffet special from five pm to eight pm. Alcoholic beverages are also available.
Kah-Nee-Ta High Desert Resort and Casino offers guests the Spa Wanapine which means Spa by the River. It has the flow of a natural mineral spring to the tap and reaches the surface at one hundred forty degrees. The spa pampers guests with treatments and massages using sea salt and mineral soaks. The hours of operation are Friday through Sunday from ten am to five pm, although hours are seasonal. Reservations can be made by phone or email.
Meetings, conferences and weddings are accommodated in a fifteen thousand square foot facility. It has two grand ballrooms and state of the art audio and video equipment. They can assist groups up to three hundred participants. Access to the facilities’ support staff is provided for all administrative needs.
Kah-Nee-Ta High Desert Resort and Casino golfing is available on an eighteen holes PGA championship course. It is a seventy two par course that measures up to six thousand three hundred fifty two yards depending on what color tee is being played. It has a blend of fairways, flats, doglegs and greens that are sloped. Tournaments are held throughout the year and a calendar is listed on the website. There is a pro shop with all the latest golf equipment and apparel. A club house has a restaurant. In addition, there are modern golf carts. Golfing can be played all year due to the mild climate.
The RV Park is the final accommodation available to the guests at Kah-Nee-Ta High Desert Resort and Casino. The park has fifty one sites which accommodate campers from thirty four feet to seven three feet. Guests can pull-in, back-in or pull through in thirty site locations. There are thirty/fifty amp electrical outlets and sewer and water hookups. Access to the pools and hot springs round out some of the extensive amenities offered.
