Proposed Massachusetts Indian Casinos
By late 2014, there will be a decision made on the possible construction of two more casinos in the state of Massachusetts. These would be tribal casinos and resorts. The state licensing department will decide on whether or not these will be built sometime later this year.
Another casino is being requested by the Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority. This facility would be a $600 million dollar resort. It would be situated somewhere near to the Massachusetts Turnpike in the city of Palmer.
Mashpee Wampanoag Casino
A plan to construct what would be a $500 million dollar facility is being requested by a committee from Mashpee Wampanoag Indian Tribe. It would be a destination style casino resort situated in Taunton, which is approximately thirty-five miles from the city of Boston. This facility would include 146 acres, which would have a casino consisting of 150,000 square feet of property, as well as three hotels for guests, as well as an event center, and even an amusement water park for entertainment.
The applicants for building a casino are required to pay a $400,000 fee. The money is paid and given to the Massachusetts Gaming Commission, which is non-refundable. This begins the process of getting to construct a casino facility.
The gambling companies pay this fee and are then certified as casino applicants and can meet with appropriate state agencies to discuss any needed permits in the area of the environment or transportation.
The bottom line is that if you wish to gamble in Massachusetts, there are already several casino and other gambling facilities in the state and others are being considered for construction in the future.
