Menominee Casino- Wisconsin, United States
The Menominee Casino and Resort offers visitors a wide array of amenities. Located in Kenesha, Wisconsin on Menominee ancestral lands, it provides casino gambling, fine dining, a hotel, a convention center, an RV Park and a gift shop. The Menominee Tribe owns and operates the resort, which expanded from a bingo hall founded in 1982 into a casino modeled along Las Vegas lines in 1987. Guests can find many interesting activities to capture their interest in this scenic area of northeastern Wisconsin.
The casino offers three basic types of gaming activities: electronic slots and video poker, table games and bingo. These activities occur within a 33,000 square foot casino.
Slots and Video Poker
The casino floor contains over 850 different types of slots and video poker machines. The management keeps games updated and current.
In addition to gaming at the main casino site, visitors can engage in slots play at a small “mini-casino” site in the Thunderbird Restaurant about nine miles due north of Menominee Casino and Resort. It is located as W. 106 County Trunk VV. The location maintains about 30 slots machines for restaurant and lounge patrons.
With ten Blackjack tables, ten Poker Tables and ten tables devoted to a variety of other casino games, including Roulette and Craps, the Menominee Casino provides guests with an impressive assortment of different table games. Employees offer these games between 10 a.m and 2 a.m. The casino extends table game hours until 3 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Craps games are not conducted on Monday and Tuesday. They begin at noon on weekends and start at 4 p.m. on other days.
The casino offers a 400 seat bingo hall. Participants compete for cash jackpots during sessions conducted in accordance with a posted schedule. Times and top prizes are listed at the casino.
Guests can eat casual meals at a recently constructed casino dinner bar called the Cabana. Additionally, a formal restaurant, the Forest Island Restaurant, offers more formal dinners for guests.
A third dining option is the Thunderbird Restaurant some 9 miles away. In addition to serving as a “mini slots” center, it provides a full bar and a lounge where live entertainments acts sometimes appear. For instance, Doug Allen recently appeared on stage there from 8 p.m. to midnight between Thursday and Saturday.
The Menominee Tribe recently finished adding additional rooms to a hotel adjoining the casino. The facility now contains 103 rooms and suites. Guests can choose between standard rooms, king size rooms and deluxe suites. The deluxe suites contain 42″ television screens (as opposed to 32″ screens in other rooms), plus whirlpool baths with glass doors. King size and deluxe rooms both contain king sized mattresses.
Every room in the hotel supplies comfortable bedding, a television set, an in-room safe, a coffee maker and specialty coffees, and complimentary wireless. Guests can request a room with a refrigerator in the credenza.
The hotel reflects many tribal artistic designs in its decor. It emphasizes earth tones throughout its motif, employing beiges, greens and many shades of browns in the upholstery and furnishings. The recent upgrades included the addition of more hotel rooms, plus a large indoor heated swimming pool. It holds 121,000 gallons of water. Nearby, guests can enjoy a whirlpool, a steam room, and a modern fitness center, replete with treadmills and cycling machines.
The hotel maintains a special program available to honor couples celebrating a marriage or wedding anniversary. For an additional $59.99 charge, it will supply rooms with champagne, two flutes containing the hotel logo, a 6″ anniversary cake, a balloon bouquet and a $20 food voucher coupon for use at the resort. Advance notice is required in order to take advantage of this program.
The Convention Center
The Menominee Casino and Resort recently expanded its convention center facilities. The 13,000 square feet of space is attached to the main casino and hotel. It includes a central ballroom designed to seat 650 guests at a single dinner function. However, the ballroom can be subdivided into smaller space units to accommodate smaller groups; seating and table arrangements are very flexible.
Additionally, the conference center contains five smaller mid-sized rooms suitable for a variety of purposes. With an attractive, modern decor, the rooms could provide space for company meetings and training sessions, dances, charity auctions, wedding receptions, tribal gatherings, seminars, classes, group presentations, and even trade shows.
The entrance to the conference center boasts an impressive work of art designed to signify the importance of Menominee Tribal traditions underlying the facility. It contains a central, heavy nine foot tall statue of a bear, an important symbol in tribal culture.
The RV Park
There is an RV Park with 24-hour camera security available near the casino. It can accommodate up to 42 recreational vehicles with 30 or 50 amp hookups. Guests must register at the front desk in the hotel. They enjoy full access to the casino and can also use hotel amenities, such as the fitness center, swimming pool and bar and dining facilities.
Gift Shop and Surrounding Attractions
Another benefit for guests at the Menominee Casino and Resort is the modern, newly refurbished Five Clan Gift Shop. It sells an attractive variety of gifts. These items include hand-made articles crafted by Native American artisans, Pendleton brand clothing, pottery, paintings, and Zuni and Navajo jewelry. There is an adjoining Smoke Shop offering steeply discounted tobacco products. The gift shop maintains long hours: it remains open from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and until midnight on Friday and Saturday.
Additionally, guests at the resort can take full advantage of a wide variety of outdoor activities available in the surrounding locale. Whitewater rafting draws many visitors to the area. Additionally, depending on the time of year, it may be possible to enjoy hiking, skiing and golfing, all while staying at the resort. The Menominee Casino and Resort offers outstanding value for couples who would like to play casino games, but also conduct outdoor recreation during a family vacation.
