What better way to celebrate your 21st anniversary than by setting a world record? In a press release published earlier this month Muckleshoot Casino announced that it did just that. The TournEvent of Champions slot tournament, held on April 30th in partnership with game company Everi, was billed as Muckleshoot’s bid for record book fame.

The atmosphere of celebration was tangible as excited participants gathered to help make history. Already occupying the enviable position of being the first casino to introduce video play games it seems obvious that Muckleshoot would also be the first to successfully set a Guinness World Record. Conrad Granito, General Manager, expressed his excitement about the tournament stating that given Muckleshoot’s impressive track record “…holding the slot tournament at Muckleshoot was a natural fit.” Linda Trinh, head of Marketing for Everialso commented on the event saying “While our TournEvent of Champions slot tournaments always bring fun and excitement to casinos nationwide, Muckleshoot Casino has taken its event to an entirely new level by attempting to break the record for world’s largest slot tournament.” Guinness World Record Judge Kellie Ferrick was on location to certify the event.

The tournament, which began at 8:00 am and continued all day, drew over 3,173 players to meet the minimum participation goal of 3,001 required to break the record. Participation was free but players had to be 21 or older to play. Play was held in one minute sessions throughout the day with a total pot of cash and prizes of $100,000. In commemoration of the casino’s 21st anniversary each player was guaranteed to win at least $21 in free play. The top prize of $21,000 was taken home by Benigno T. of Federal Way, WA. In addition, the winner was also awarded a four day trip to Las Vegas to compete in the national TournEvent of Champions which will take place in September. The winner of the national competition, which boasts participants from 100+ casinos nationwide, will be awarded $1,000,000.
