Good question @post2search. I don’t think I have ever wanted to close out one of my Forum Topics. As they are there for a reason, and that was to help others.
May I ask why you would want to close out a Forum?
But to answer this in the best way possible.
I looked into one of my Forum Topics.
Now after careful examination in looking one of my Forum Topics have come to the conclusion that we can not even edit the Forum Topic we stated. Now we can go back and Edit our comments but not the Forum itself. hmmmm now what hey.
@post2search I would say Yes we need something. As my lord have mercy if we made boo-boo on the typing then we can not go back and correct it.
And if the information is outdated I would hope for @admin to implement at minimum a Edit Post link on them. So we can update content of the Forum to reflect current situations.
Very Nice Idea.

If someone has got replies to his post and then he edits it then whole meaning of conversation will change so there is no edit option but we can edit the post when there are no replies to it.

@hafiz786 I would say this would not be a bad decision to be able to update or change out dated information.
But as @shirish5 said it then changes the original topic. So yes it does change the original topic.
@admin I would say that if we could add a html or text box under the Forum Topic for the Author to be able to add or update his/her post. As there are available Plugins that would allow the Author to make certain adjustments in a particular spot on the Forum Topic.

@shirish5 is correct for what she said. So, what you’re thinking now finally @ardodd? Such options should be or not? Sorry to say, in this way, this is going normal and good. We can update our old topic by making our reply referring to our topics. In this way, first and real conversation will not be disturbed and changed. And as well as after our new reply that will be an updated info referring to our topics can bring the members again back to this topic to generate new conversation now again…

@hafiz786 what I was saying that I am for being able update our older Forum Topics and not deleting them. As the post or topic is being used by other members.
Now what I said in my last post is this:
- Add a html box below our original topic (only available for author who created it)
- By adding this box the author can update his post and have it withing the original post.
- Thus eliminating the need to scroll through lots of post or comments to find your last update.
- The update box will post the update at the bottom of the original topic and be seen under it.
So my Vote is NO Delete on Topic
And a YES Vote on html box for author to update post.

Thank you @shirish5,
Adding a html box is not as difficult as you would think. I have a WordPress plugin that allows the authors the ability to create a ad or add any html onto the end of their Post.
It can be modified to only allow the author to create updates and not any kind of ads. It is called ( Ad Inserter). And @admin could modify it to fit their need for update box.
Or they can create a simple update box through the CSS Code inside the Forum Topic Section by adding html directly.
